bClear’s charity fund has handed out thousands of pounds to good causes in Bristol and North Somerset and is now open again for 2023. We are inviting worthwhile groups to apply for donations.

The fund will give grants of at least £500 to up to 12 charities and today launches for applications from local organisations.

Eight charities including Great Western Air Ambulance, BRACE and Springboard Opportunities Group, a charity that gives children with disabilities a safe place to play and learn, received between £500 and £1,000 each last year.

Previous applicants have praised the fund for the money they received. Amanda Groves from Alive, a charity which supports people with dementia, said the £800 donation it received from bClear had made a big difference to its work improving the self-esteem and happiness of older people: “Our grant from the bClear Charity Fund has helped us to improve older people’s well-being by helping to fund our meetings and singing sessions in Clevedon, Nailsea and Portishead. Beneficiaries have made more choices in their lives, reconnected with their interests and memories, and strengthened their personal identities.”

Angela Mortimer from Claverham, Clevedon District Guide Dogs fundraising group said bClear’s donation has helped train a guide dog, a lifeline for the visually impaired. “It costs around £50,000 to train and support a guide dog from birth until retirement and unfortunately, there are never enough trained dogs for the demand.”

bClear launched the fund in 2021 to help charities get back on their feet after a challenging time for donations during the pandemic. Giving organisations the opportunity to apply, targets the money at the heart of where it is needed.

Debbie Staveley, founder and CEO of bClear, said “Giving back to the community and local charities has always been an important part of bClear’s ethos. Since the company was established in 2005 we have supported more than 30 charities, locally and internationally. The charity fund has meant we can help those who need it and it’s great to see how much difference it has made the last two years”.

Charities and volunteer organisations can apply by completing the bClear fund application form and returning it to charity@bclear.co.uk. The deadline for applications is the end of May and money will be allocated over the next few months.
